Uma lousa por dia aceita a festa

Pratica, parte a lousa e fá-lo lesta
A praça o nome e a excursão
Ao norte. É pouca a lousa, e é modesta.
Parti a cigarreira e não me resta
Nenhuma das três casas na prisão
A outra lousa tem muito ar de mestra.
Parti duas cidades mera fresta
Do reino, dos dois rios, da contenção
Lamento mas é só coisa modesta.

to be lost that their loss is no disaster.
Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.
I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
